Book of Love Pelican

Pelican scroll inspired by pages from King Rene’s Book of Love, specifically Folio 18v and Folio 21v, 15th century, France. Illumination by Master Tristan Alexander, calligraphy by Lady Failenn Chu Inghean Fhaelain .  I think it was 9 x 12, Acrylic, Egg Tempera and Gold leaf on Parchemnt (the skin not the paper).

(Dame Bell Phoebe while traveling with her page and her Laurel Knight approaches a bridge where she sees a tree full of her accomplishments and then a Pelican Knight appears to join her company!)

Sforza Laurel

"Sforza Laurel", 9 x 12, Egg Tempera, Acrylic, ProWhite and Pigma pen on Parchment (the skin not the paper). It is based on pages the Sforza Hours, c.1490, Milan. My bad calligraphy is in Oak Gall ink. The borders are my own variation on several from the book and the top and bottom Angel and Melusine are directly from different pages (samples will appear below my scroll).
