Unusual Scroll KAE

This is a King's Award of Excellence, the King at the time had a Roman persona and had a Medusa head as a badge (if I recall) so I decided to do this trompe l'oeil buckler as the scroll. It is painted on a wooden plate. His Majesty liked it so much he requested that all his KAEs be done this way (didn't happen) but I was happy he liked it so much. I don't have a reference picture for this, it was based off of clasical sculpture and some period versions of the Medusa head.
